Zionist entity is in shock: a few hours after the reopening of the Qaem-Abu-Kamal crossing, Iran and Russia launched joint air exercises in eastern Syria.

DEBKAfile, a site close to Israeli army intelligence, reports : "In the presence of Syrian forces, Iran and Russia launched their first joint military exercise in the Syrian region of Deir ez-Zor their first combined extraterritorial exercise in a country in the Middle East. The exercise, which takes place on the West Bank of the Euphrates River, includes the first combined trilateral missile launches as well as air strikes on fortified targets."

And the website adds : "for the first time also, fighter aircraft and drones from the Iranian Air Force as well as Iranian special forces have arrived in Syria to participate in the exercise". The news was reported by SANA who also reported the arrival of 500 Syrian soldiers in Deir ez-Zor to take part in these manoeuvres. But the part that is particularly frightening to Israel is the Russian participation.

Debka writes: "Moscow has also contributed to the exercise of Pansir s-1 and Pansir s-2 mobile air defense missile systems, providing Iranian forces with a Russian air defense umbrella, which is far from trivial. The Russian and Syrian release on the combined exercise omit to specify the date of the beginning of the exercise it is only indicated that it takes place in the western part of the province of Deir ez-Zor, that is very close to the American base of Al-Tanf, which controls the junction of the border between Syria, Jordan and Iraq".

And the Israeli source cannot fail to stress the turning point that this event represents on the Syrian chessboard : "this exercise marks an important step in the new strategic configuration of Russia in Syria. Moscow began using the Qaem-Abu Kamal border crossing between Iraq and Syria, which was only reopened three days ago after eight years of war. Heavy Russian military vehicles from Black Sea bases, notably in South Ossetia and Crimea, have begun to arrive in Syria through the recently inaugurated passage, cementing a land bridge linking Russia to the Middle East and air and naval corridors from Moscow to Syria.

Moscow therefore uses the same land bridge as Tehran to cross Iraq and Syria to reach the eastern Mediterranean by land. Russia's presence on this road will prevent Israel from attacking Iran's land corridor. A geostrategic catastrophe for Israel!"
