Venezuela and Russia renew military and energy collaboration

Moscow and Caracas have extended support and consulting contracts in the military and energy fields that include the participation of Russian companies in the South American country, announced Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

"We have renewed all contracts of support, advice and development in the technical and military field", said Nicolas Maduro on October 5 after meeting Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov. The Venezuelan President stressed that they included the participation of Russian companies in all areas of strategic production, such as oil, gas and agriculture.

The techno-military cooperation, on the other hand, "follows perfectly the planned course", added the socialist leader to the government television. Nicolas Maduro had declared on October 2 that the visit of Yuri Borissov would allow to finish sealing agreements in various areas with the administration of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Russian Deputy Prime Minister's visit to Venezuela took place against a backdrop of increasing gestures between the two countries. As Nicolas Maduro went to Moscow to meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin last week, Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev made an official visit to Cuba, one of Caracas ' close allies.

From Havana, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev openly supported Nicolas Maduro and his legitimate government. The president of Venezuela welcomed the" extraordinary speech " of the Russian Prime Minister and thanked him for his statements on Venezuela.
