Zimbabwe - Funeral of Robert Mugabe: Africa greets a "hero"
Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, several African counterparts and thousands of faithful on Saturday, September 14th, hailed the memory of the "hero" and "visionary leader" Robert Mugabe, during a funeral.
In front of his coffin covered with the national flag, and his widow Grace Mugabe all dressed in black, several African heads of state have on the contrary long come to sing the praises of the deceased.
"An icon of African liberation," said Kenyan Uhuru Kenya. "A moral compass," dared former Ghanaian president Jerry Rawlings. "A great fighter," concluded the Equatorial Guinean Teodoro Obiang Nguema. Emmerson Mnangagwa: "We honor the memory of our African icon (...) our homeland is in tears," said the head of state. "He was the heroic flame of nationalism, patriotism and freedom."
