Libya: Eastern-based army launches large-scale offensive against UN-backed government
Ahmad al-Mismari, an army spokesman based in eastern Libya (Tripoli), said on Saturday that the army had launched a large-scale offensive against UN-backed rival government forces in the south of the country.
"Our forces have launched a violent attack against the terrorist militias (UN-backed government forces) on the Salah al-Din axis to free it from terrorist and criminal gangs," he said in a statement communicated.
