Security in the Gulf is a collective affair, says Iran

Iran said on Tuesday that security in the Gulf and Strait of Hormuz region must meet the interests of all states in the region.

In a phone conversation with his Japanese counterpart, Iranian Defense Minister Amir Hatami said on Tuesday that "no country in the region can be safe as long as its neighbours experience insecurity". Mr Hatami rejected as" unfounded " the claims made by the United States and some of its allies that Iran had played a role in the recent attacks on key oil installations in Aramco in Saudi Arabia.

The US and its allies have no evidence to support these accusations, he added. "Iran has always sought to establish peace and stability in the region by cooperating with other regional States", he said.
