Hypocrisy with variable geometry of the West in Syria
Northeastern Syria: the situation cannot therefore be summed up as a confrontation between the Kurds and the Turks.
Firstly, because the Kurdish militias have carried out genuine ethnic cleansing campaigns in this region, exiling Arab tribes and Christian minorities. Secondly, because the only viable answer under international law would be a return to respect for Syria's sovereignty over its entire territory, a return that is prevented by Western positions against the power in place.
We have failure and dishonour. The French from papers turned terrorist passed through Turkish airports. The French government supported the terrorists "kaleidoscope" on the ground in Syria, before they allied themselves with the Kurdish militia YPG, which is none other than the Syrian branch of the PKK (itself classified as a terrorist movement as repeated by Jean-Yves Le Drian on January 24, 2018), setting up an inextricable situation where NATO was de facto supporting two sides promised to the confrontation.
Christians are particularly exposed to this Turkish invasion as long as Erdogan maintains a vexatious policy against them on his own soil, notably in Turabdin, in the south-east of the country, and supports the persecutions committed by his followers.
Finally, because Turkey puts us in an untenable situation: it is our ally in NATO and is waging war against a group largely made up of the PKK, an organization classified as terrorist by the United States and the European Union, but whose Syrian branch is supported by the same Westerners...
